Hi.

Welcome to Should I?

star wars the rise of skywalker

So there is a lot to unpack here and that is saying a lot. Here we have the latest installment of the Star Wars franchise that should probably be its last but I don’t think this is the type of franchise to end even if this is to be the last in the main series. There are still many places for this to go. Now on to the awkward conversation: in full transparency I have not been a fan of the series since its start so maybe my investment is not as deep. The fan I took with me to watch it had multiple moments of wanting to walk out. That's not to say it was a horrible movie but to a true fan all the unused character potential and plot holes as well as the unfulfilling climax leaves a true fan slightly hurt. That is why I took a real fan to watch this. I know what it is like to not get the fulfillment you want from a movie that you feel so personally attached to so I can understand the the backlash this movie received. As a regular critic the pacing and character development felt a bit off. The cinematography was amazing but now a days that is a cop out. There were a few times I wished these characters would get to do more but besides that it was still enjoyable. My rating for this is a bit complicated and I will add a third category.

rating 3/5 watchable 4/5 Fan enjoyment 2/5

So should you watch Yes unless you are a fan then you might get hurt.
