Hi.

Welcome to Should I?

Bronx Night Festival

Bronx Night Festival

When I think of food festivals I usually think of Smorgasburg in Brooklyn or the winter villages in Manhattan. But never did I think one would take place down in the street in the Bronx. We heard about it from a friend and decided to check it out especially since it was right in our neighborhood. Bronx Night Market takes place on the weekends in the summer up until October. We checked it out in November when it returned for the Harvest Festival. It was a cold November day for sure so we stayed out till we were full. There were different food stands, dessert stands and some vendors selling local homemade goods like candles. We first tried a stand that sold sticks of potato spirals. We topped it off with garlic parmesan. They were so good. The potatoes were warm, fresh and tasted better than waffle fries (which are my favorite!). We then tried the German bratwurst and of course it was very good! It was authentic and was filled with German flavors. The pair selling it were so kind and friendly. Then I saw a Mac and cheese truck which was selling my favorite buffalo chicken Mac and cheese. Unfortunately this wasn’t my favorite food of the day. The chicken was shredded and placed on top. It didn’t have much of that buffalo flavor which I like but it was decent. We also got two lemonades from their truck. They were decent as well. We ended it off with grabbing some pernil with arroz. It’s been a while since I’ve had pernil but this reminded me why it’s one my holiday favorites. It was flavorful and fresh to serve.

I love that this is on-going community event. As a Bronx resident it reminded me that I don’t need to venture to another borough to get amazing food when there’s so much to offer here. Love that more is being done to foster community here in the Bronx. We definitely are going to stop by in the summer so we don’t have to freeze to enjoy the Bronx Night Market.
